National security practice means different things to different law firms. At Boyle & Jasari, it means the representation of individuals, both military and civilian, as well as corporations in a wide range of issues related to national defense. We have represented military contractors working in Afghanistan and Iraq in criminal and security clearance related issues. We have represented individuals being investigated by the National Security Divisions of the F.B.I and the Department of Justice. Frequently, we represent individuals suspected of violating U.S. Sanctions and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and assist clients in obtaining licenses from the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Our senior partner, Dennis Boyle, began his legal career with the U.S. Department of Justice working on espionage cases in Maryland (United States v. John Walker, United States v. Ronald Pelton, and United States v. Samuel Morrison). After that, he gained extensive experience in national security cases as a Judge Advocate in the United States Navy. After serving in the United States and overseas, as well as on board an aircraft carrier during the First Persian Gulf War, Dennis retired from the Navy Reserve with the rank of Commander. His last assignment was as a Commissioner on the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. He has deep experience in the field of national security law.

Much of our national security practice focuses upon the representation of U.S. military members on a variety of matters, particularly courts-martial and court-martial appeals. We also represent military contractors in investigations around the world, including federal criminal trials for security activities that occur in conflict regions. We believe that only someone who has served in the military can truly understand what our soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen go through. Civilian contractors frequently perform the same duties as military members and deserve to be treated as fairly as those who wear a uniform.
